SP120 PWM on 3 pin Fan Header

Will the motherboard be able to control the speed of this fan using only the 3 pins ?

It will work, however you should be aware that you're more than likely to burn out the fan motor by doing that. A PWM fan isn't intended to be voltage controlled in that way

Plus the speed won't be controlled properly.

I have Be Quiet Silent Wings 3 PWM fans. In a PWM header at 20% they run at 400RPM, in a voltage controlled 3 pin header they run at 800RPM at 20%.

Hey guy, thanks for the feedback. At the moment they seems be running just fine on a DC header and speed seems to be ramping up when my cpu temps rise. Although there is a horrible latency with CAM software controlled fans.

@Tolagarf, for the fans burning out are you saying this from experience or have you read this somewhere, can you point me to a link where people have suffered from this kind of failure ?
