Soundblaster + EAX = Fuzzynaly

Hi Guys!

I have a SoundBlaster LIVE! 5.1 digital.

It is a sweet card and has been running stuff of ages.

I just wondered why it gets all fuzzy when I use EAX?!

This card can support EAX3 or is it 2.. I can't remeber. But when I use any type of EAX it goes spazz and gives some horrible static/fuzzy sounds.. :(

Any ideas?

I`ve noticed this, and I don`t know if it`s anything to do with the following..

When I bought it, it was just plain EAX - but with more recent drivers and game settings, it comes up as EAX 2. - this could result in the software trying to output something the hardware can`t handle.

(however) Sometimes I notice, even with 2g, that it happens more when the pc hasn`t been restarted for ages. But it would seem that u restart and it sounds better.

I am semi tempted to say to install the very old drivers for this and see how they work.

(only because if it 100% works for u, then I`d do it :p :p)

On another hand, I have a recycled SB5.1 here that I`m hoping to install into a new build this week, so I could try the drivers out then.

Crackles and pops, sorta semi in the background as u`r playing ?

Well my x fi card crashes 2142 for example to desktop soon as i select EAX which annoys me (same happened for bf2 and medieval 2 doesnt allow me to go above EAX 3) grr
