Sound cards!?

I am building a PC for a guy who needs it for lots of sound recording and good playback.

It is a musician and needs it for his studio.

Any recommendations for a sound card?

The only downfall of those kinda cards Tox, is they have a gang of wires hanging from the rear of the case once u`ve plugged in the interface plug. Typically, like Radioman cards, they are designed with a particular software program in mind. They probably work well with other software mind u.

I`d lean towards Ham`s suggestion, they are good cards, but the advantage as I see it is the nice front panel vS load of cables hanging out the back of the pc.

The panel is like a SB Live one brought way up2date. In additon to the panel, they can also have additional back plane mounted din sockets for midi connections and the like.

What's the difference between a X-Fi Fatal1ty and a X-Fi Xtreme Gamer

I see the Xtreme Gamer is £50, but the fatality is close to £100. Is it just the live drive type thing

The fatailty has much better DACs and components in general. more memory on the card too.

Yeah there`s many different versions of the cards, some can be extremely stripped down. They tend to use the same pcb so u can see the connections u `could have had`.
