Sony Updates PS3 Firmware

To me the PS3 is trying way to hard to be a PC and not a game console, but that's just me of course :p

Wirelessly posted (LG Fusic: Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/2.0.4719/1528; en; U; ssr))

Sony have released a couple of PS3 firmwares... but why is this news? :p.

To tell PS3 owners that this update..

-Improves the machine's picture output, with better support for 1080i screen resolution over 720p.

-Blu-ray films can now be viewed in YUV instead of RGB, which should reduce loss of quality in converting HDMI images. USB support is also improved so that contents of the machines hard disk can be backed up to USB devices.

The last update, 1.10, gave support for the PS network, the PS store, ATRAC playback and full screen video playback, so why was that not important and this is? :p

Erm no, it didn't fix it. The output with game problem was caused by the ps3 forcing 1080i users to use 480p, rather than using 720p. Now they've just gone and screwed it up as now people who use 720p are scaled back to 480p (unless they set it to use 1080i). Confusing lol?

And afaik the usb allows backup of usb devices and sd cards etc to the ps3 hard drive.

Edited to what I think you meant.

Tbh, nowhere near it. It's a good thing we're getting the PS3 in march. It might do what it's meant to by then ;).
