Erm no, it didn't fix it. The output with game problem was caused by the ps3 forcing 1080i users to use 480p, rather than using 720p. Now they've just gone and screwed it up as now people who use 720p are scaled back to 480p (unless they set it to use 1080i). Confusing lol?
And afaik the usb allows backup of usb devices and sd cards etc to the ps3 hard drive.
