It's crap like this that drove me to PC gaming. I always saw it as wasteful to completely ditch a whole machine for a new one; especially when the new version is still woefully behind the curve.

I know PC components are expensive, but I swear I've actually saved money over the last five years since I made the switch; probably just by using Steam Sales and Humble Bundles.

Wouldn't say fail really. It's still cheaper than a PC. People will still buy it. Also the fact the Gamestop and etc are offering huge buybacks of old consoles to "upgrade" to the Pro/XBoS makes it actually a pretty good deal. Basically can get it half off.

I have no issues with this approach as long as PS4 Pro / Project Scorpio exclusive games won't start popping up.

Fail, that's all I'm going to say.

I wouldn't go that far, but people who made a PC back when the PS4/Xbone gen started and spend £350 on an upgrade now would have a pretty decent gaming PC.

That is the question. We all know that after this a PS4 Mega Pro and the Xbox Project (Gemini?) will come after this upgrade.

There will be a cut-off point somewhere.

I wasn't aware there were plans for a second upgrade.

At that point console killer PCs become moot since consoles have become worse PCs itself. :-P

IIRC both Sony and Microsoft said that these would be the last consoles they will ever release. I would imagine it's because they will just update the hardware now.

There won't except for most likely VR games. As it now, the PS4 Pro is backwards compat with all games. The only difference being not all games will be updated to support the HDR or enhanced graphics capabilities.
Here's a list of the confirmed games..

At some point there will have to be exclusive games to entice people over to the newer hardware because if you can get a £250 PS4 that plays all the same games as the more expensive Pro minus a little spit'n'polish here and there, Then people are going to go for the cheaper option.

It really won't effect sales of either system. There are two camps too console players. Casual and hardcore. Each system addresses them directly, they will still sell.
