Sony reveals its PlayStation 5 controller - It looks like an Alienware gamepad

I think that's ugly as hell and I'm not convinced by the shape either tbh because I prefer the shape of the DS4 vs Xbox controllers BUT I could probably adapt, I just hope they're finally gonna replace/improve the flimsy triggers.

Don't really care for the design. A controller is a controller to me. I've used them all my life and never had a problem. I just want the really big upgrades to the haptics Sony talked about before.

That will turn nasty brown in no time from sweat and dirt off the fingers. Then it will gunk up inbetween the buttons.. yuck!

If you don't take care of it, sure. My Xbox One controller is 5 years old now and it looks as good as new.

I dig the design, but I'm more interested in how they'll implement those new features. Not sure how I feel about in-built mic though. I'm not a native English speaker so I guess it doesn't matter.

Console wars aside the one thing the Xbox has always had better is the controller.

Better shape, more ergonomic, feels better, buttons placed in better positions etc.

So glad this new pad is taking on more of the Xbox shape.

I was thinking more of people who dont wash their hands and sweat, or dont wipe the controller down after playing extended periods.

Design I quite like. However it seems like they are trying to shift towards XB design which I think Alien already mentioned.

I have the original XB1 controller, still like new and also the Elite variant which to me is still the nicest controller I have ever had. Overpriced and not worth the value, but it's still the best there is for me.

The clear buttons on the controller look cool.

Yeah this is a huge positive step. The DS4 was pretty good but the Xbone shape definitely had a nicer fit for all but the smallest of hands I think, so this kinda amalgamation is nice. The haptic feedback triggers worked great on the Xbone controller too. Would have been cool to see a + style D-Pad and a replaceable battery(Even if still a Li-On only battery form), but ah well.

Still, does this imply a white only launch console is coming? That would be quite interesting.

EDIT: Just saw these mock ups of what other colours could look like

Nah, it won't. I have a white Xbox controller and it still looks as good as it did when I got it.

It will only gunk up if you're a dirty sod. In which case you probably wouldn't care any way lol.
