Sony releases official PlayStation 5 teardown - Here's what we think

I'm not an engineer of any sort but looks impressive to me.

Hopefully will be much cooler and quieter than the jet engine that was the PS4.

Question: Can you play Blu rays film disks on the PlayStation 5 without having to signup for online game/media pass type subscription?

thanks from the ignorant :)

I would certainly say so, you can on PS3/PS4.

You can also play offline games without a PS+ Subscription.

Only online gaming requires you to subscribe to PS+.

"The dust collected in the dust catcher can be vacuumed out through these two holes."

Never thought I'd see someone other than "The Verge" to recommend vacuuming a console..

3 things

1) Hate that they start the video with the "disassembly removes the guarantee" yadada crap. It's illegal in the US. I'm assuming it's meant for the US audience as they did not post this video on their EU account. Also did not like the sticker hiding the screw. Pretty sure those are illegal too.

2) liquid metal is pretty awesome.

3) it's nice to know the external SSD will expand the storage instead of replace. Makes it far cheaper to get more storage. Depending on size of games I could easily see 1TB drives selling out everywhere once Sony approves them.

Unenforceable != illegal. They don't work in the EU either - they need to prove you broke the console by opening it.

But I find the design lovely overall. Dust cleaning vents are a clever touch.

The first thing I thought was dbrand. But with the exterior's detailed design (there are the 4 buttons engraved on both sides all over the place iirc), it could become kinda fiddly to put a skin on it.

Isn't this the first time, a developer is tearing down their own new console, as well? Cool move and the vacuuming vents are a really nice touch.
