Watch the specs be nigh identical to Series X and show that the past 3 months of "PlayStation is doomed against Xbox hardware" articles were just clickbait.
I suspect it'll be pretty close again like current gen original launches. Software will win the day I feel. Especially since past Sony talks have mentioned price being incredibly important and a huge factor that I don't believe they will win both hardware/software like they did this gen. Just puts more focus on games.
On the other hand the gaming industry seems to be trying to do cross-platform/play so in that sense it also may not matter in a few years and more powerful hardware/user experience will win the generation

Yeah software could be a strong determining factor if things end up close again, seems like Microsoft have a heavy response to catch up on the game side of the software occasion, lets see if Sony will also commit to catching up with the OS/multimedia/applications and most importantly marketplace/licensing/deals.
