Somewhat Urgent Draining Question

Hey all, I'm planning on draining my loop shortly and switching out the tubing due to plasticizer build up. I have a bay res/pump combo (XSPC X2O 750) with a G 1/4" adapter on top and barb fitting with a small piece of hose for filling, and I'm just wondering if it'd be safe to (after removing most of the hardware) tilt the case and draining through the fill port. The other option is to remove the cpu block and loosen a fitting over a bucket. I'd much rather the first option, but I'm just making sure it's safe.

Thanks a lot :D

take a pic of your system mate so i can see the lay out and pref list the components so i can quick research

I normally pull the cpu block as its normally the longest tube. Hold it over a bucket and remove the tubing. Allowing it to drain thusly. The way your suggesting suggests that your going to pour thru the fill port I can only say NOOOOOOOOOO!!! the water will not go out as you think mostly it'll run all over the place making a huge mess and possibly soaking some of your kit. As with building the loop take your time and do it proper it'll cost ya more time but in the long run it'll save ya alot of time.

Well, I did a little combination of both methods and everything went fine. She's up and running again. Regarding the plasticizer, it's not really a plasticizer but rather a coating that doesn't stray from the walls of the tubing. I investigated my block, rad, and pump/res and there was no coating.

Yep that's probably plasticizer. It's not much of a problem if it stays on the tubing wall, it's when it comes off and goes round the loop clogging blocks, etc up.
