hey dudes, im new in the forums but already knew OC3D because of the great reviews they had, and now im posting my rig photos lol.

this rig is 3 years old so it dont have any super cool thing inside just "normal" stuff..

hmm lets see...

- intel Q6600 2.4ghz @ 3.0ghz

- MSI p35 Platinum

- 2gb Kingston Hiper X 800mhz

- Thermalright 120 (its big almost didnt fit in this case)

- Maxtor 250gb - 32mb

- Palit Gforce 8600 GTS

- Samsung Super writer master (dvd - cd)

- generic card reader

- Soyo PSU 460 wats (dont have a big name but didnt failed one me for 3 years and counting...)

Samsung SyncMaster 931bw

Samsung Pleomax 1600 dpi

Microsof keyboard

hmm thats all i think

the case is a mid tower generic one and dont have any name all i could find on it was Preview so maybe its a preview lol.

the side window fan was an old 90mm fan from back that wasnt in good shape so i tried to make a side window, since i used a drill (i didnt had a dremel, and im going to buy one because case modding is impossible with a big drill, at least for me hehe), i stopped the side window "project" because it was made of cheap plastic and started to crack.

in the front of the case i made two holes and installed cold catodes just to give some cool effect, and instaled also 2 80mm fans for HD cooling.

the cable management sux (im not good at it really lol, hope you guys help me with some techs later) and the case also dont helps with it (even when using zip ties, it just dont make difference :( ).

im also thinking of changing my case to a cosmos and also upgrading my PSU (those two are my first upgrades before bigger ones), but thats for the end of the year i think, uni dont let me in peace hehe.

thx everyone :D

and im looking foward to see your rigs aswell

Soap.

PS. hope the photos upload right (used Jim sticky tread to how to upload photos etc) used :oc3d: to upload them aswell

Quote my post to see the exact code ;)

Looks like a nice rig :) You could maybe do two (case)mods to improve it:

- If you mind noise you could replace the CPU cooler to for example the Accellero (€17) with a silent 120/92mm fan (€3~7) tiewrapped onto it. You current hsf looks quite noisy.

- You could dremel/drill out the acrylic in front of the side casefan. It looks seriously restricting, causing the airflow to drop and noise to raise. You could replace it with a simple fan guard (€0.50 or so).

And for a 3 year old lady she sure as hell is nice :)

It's a nice construction, and believe me u couldn't really shout at it for being dusty :p

I fear a little for the 80mm rear case fan. Unless it's kept at a suitably high rpm to compete with the 120? cpu fan, not all the cpu fan's heat expelling will exit the case. It may well buildup heat over time.

On top of this perhaps, we have a 80mm input from the front and another on the side. Exiting fans look to be the rear 80mm and the psu fan that is possibly 120? - this could mean that the psu expels what the rear fan can't.. interesting.

If the rpms are in a decent ratio tho, it wouldn't be an issue. U'll only really know if u notice a rush of heat come at u when u take the side panel off.

Thnx for sharing.

hehe, thx for the tips monkey, since i dont have a dremel and a drill was doing cracks because of bad quality plastic, i tried using a hot knife, and i made de hole, i will buy a fan grill next month and i will post a pic with the new little mod hehe.

Rastalovish, when i open i dont feel any hot air, so there's no hot air zones (w/o air moving), also the back one is a 90mm, but in front i instaled two 80mm for hd (before it was a little hot, but nothing great)

also after doing a little mod (like monkey said) i saw a drop of 5c at video card, and thats impressive, im thinking of making some mods at it like painting etc, but first i need to change my psu, also buy a bigger case (like cosmos S) but i still like this one so i will make it my secondary rig, after some upgrades etc at the main one (that will be a probably a cosmos)

thx everyone

** little update photo**

after opening with a hot knife (still need sanding)

ok that's all (used edit so i wont spam with replys

You're welcome :) Clever idea to use a hot knife on low quality plastic. If you have rough edges you could try flattening them out with a handfile or sandpaper.
