Will a SO-DIMM 5300 run in a 3200 slot?

I was wondering because the 5300 is cheaper so would it work and just be down clocked to 3200?

Yes, it will be downclocked. At least that what I remember people saying, never actually tried myself. Make sure it's the same ddrx though

As long as its the same DDRX variant (eg DDR2 or DDR1, I've not heard of 5300 DDR1 so I'm guessing you safe). It ought to be downclocked, you may need to tweak the latencies in the bios if your putting it with existing ram. As far as I know and have seen it ought to underclock itself.
