Slooowwwww windows startup

Guys, need a bit of help on the behaviour of DFI mobos ..

I have my first DFI Ultra-D and an AMD X2 and after the initial windows splash screen comes up I get a "Windows is starting up" screen which it sits at for a long time. I checked the system event log and the TCPIP driver is taking 75 seconds to load which is probably the problem.

The mobo has two network connections: a Marvel and an NVidia and using either gives me the same problem. Also it's the same if I disable the Marvel in BIOS or if I change the adapter properties to 100 full duplex or auto. I have never experienced such a slow windows startup before and none of my other PCs behaved this way and the network has not changed to my knowledge. Is this a DFI thing perhaps?

Any ideas or opinions?

It's definitely a BIOS quirk dave as I have run into the same problem myself. Which bios are you using and have you flashed it at all recently?

mmmm - I was using 702.1 to start with for a couple of weeks then flashed to 704.2 and both behave the same:confused: Is there a particular DFI BIOS you preferred?

510 and 623 are the two best BIOS that I have used

-1 for TCCD

-2 for BH5

-3 For ALL

Hopefully one of those will cure the issue you have my friend.

I think someone also said something about the BIOS and having to manually set the network to pinstrap instead of MII - I have no idea what it meant.

Also - something about the Errata settings for dual core, there is somehting you can change on them to make dual core perform better.

Cheers
