Skyrim sound issue

Does anybody else have issues with Skyrim when characters are talking?
When i look at them the sound goes to a near whisper, yet when i turn to the left or right it is back to normal.
Think i have an issue with Max Payne 3 too as at the opening scene (roof party) when the characters are talking i cant here jack s**t

i had a similar issue, turned out the onboard sound defaulted to 7.1 instead of stereo

Ahhhhh forgot about my surround sound. Have set it to my tv speeakers for now until i get full 5.1 sorted out on my pc lol
