-=USEFUL CONSOLE COMMANDS=-

Bugged follower?

This will refresh your buggy companion.

1. Open console.

2. Target your follower.*

2. Type disable (they will disappear)

3. Type enable and close the console.

4. Follower will reappear with no loss of items and you should be back to normal.

*note on targetting followers:

1. If they are in sight the easiest way is to click on them, a character reference number like "000A2C94" will appear at the top of the console (you can find these numbers in wiki pages)

2. Otherwise type "prid <reference id>. I.e. "prid 000A2C94" would target Jordis.

If you loose your follower:

a. They should be where you told them to wait...

b. If 3 in-game days pass they should return to the your relevant house.

c. If not target them and enter "moveto player". This will make them appear in front of you. If that doesn't work then they probably died trying to walk home on their own...

c. You can ressurect them by targetting and using "recycleactor". Then use disable, enable and moveto player. They should respawn with you but will have no kit.

Bugged Quest?

Using this command you can reset a quest.

1. Type "resetquest <quest id>"

2. Where id is the quest identifier, again this can be found at the bottom of the quest wiki page.

e.g for this quest type "resetquest da13intro"

Or

Use this command to revert/skip to a particular stage in a quest line.

1. Type "setstage <quest ID> <stage #>"

2. Where stage is a number value listed on the wiki page.

e.g type "setstage da13 10" which I had to do because I couldn't be bother to find the afflicted refugee again after resetting the quest due to a bug. This brought me back to finding Kesh.

-=WORKSHOP=-

I've been playing around with a few mods to improve Skyrim (improve meaning mostly bug or balence fixing as opposed to adding content at the moment). Since there are so many mods out there I thought it might be useful if we gathered the best ones from peoples' experience into one place. These are the ones I'm using at the moment:

House Map Markers by Smakit

This adds your houses to the map so you can fast travel straight to them - highly recommended for those too lazy to walk
biggrin.gif

Dynamic Merchants

Adds an economy to Skyrim's merchants - basically the merchants you most often trade with are more likely to have more cash and with it increase the likelhood of stocking more items and/or more rare items.

Stones of Barenziah Quest Markers

Gives map pointers for the unusual gems. I think it's otherwise impossible to find them all unless you look them up.

Arrowsmith v3b - Simple Fletching

Allows you to smith arrows at last...much needed.

Killmove +

More animations with editable cameras and adjustable killmove chance. Sexy!

Fixed followers lite

Mostly importantly (amongst other things) this fixes the follower levelling bug and removes the follower cap so you can now use anyone you want. Being Limited to J'zargo after 50 sucked and he is rubbish anyway because he only uses lightning bolt to tickle enemies with...which brings me onto a mod I'm currently trying out:

Truly Balanced Destruction Magic

This is supposed to increase the spell damage scaling with destruction skill and also limit the proc rate of impact to 50%. This is a big one for me because I haven't seen the point in destruction magic for about 20 levels. Stun locking bosses for 10mins whilst you tickle them with 60 damage was just not fun. I'm level 55 and my swords are pushing 500 damage per swing whereas a magic bolt is only doing 60...this mod should just more than double it at skill 100.

All of these are working together with no issue so far...

There are also some great texture models out there (including cyanide89's) but I haven't got around to them yet...

Can I just say that this is also one of the best things about PC vs console gaming. The ability to mod games and bug fix using consoles is just awesome.

Great list. It's nice when someone has tested them first do you don't have to try every one to find the good ones. If you come across any rubbish ones put them here too so we know which ones to avoid

Yea good Idea, will do.

I think I'll add some useful console commands to the list too since they have helped me overcome some issues.

ime confused with all these additions

ime about to play skyrim ( to good weather atmo ) , is their any files u suggest i should add before playing the game ?

Even though I don't play Skyrim, great work M&P

Ta, dude! Well if you are ever bored then have a go!

At the beginning of the game these are less important and I'd generally recommend that you don't have too many so you can appreciate the fixes! For example:

House map markers - will save you a few seconds but you won't be able to afford a house for the first 10 - 20 levels depending on what you spend you cash on.

Dynamic merchants - again, until you get to a higher level and you skill in making/enchanting/mixing potions you won't need the merchants to have more gold.

Stone quest markers - you can do that at any time there is more important things to worry about for most of the game.

Arrowsmith - Until you start using bows (if you go that way at all) which are elven or above then you will pick up arrows which are good enough from dead people and vendors.

Destruction magic - magic only becomes underpowered above about level 25 or so.

but:

Kill move+ is sexy at all levels

Fixed follower lite is useful at all levels - you will meet you're first potential followers in the first village you come to after the opening event. If you don't have this mod then they will not level up with you and quickly become useless.

When you discover places, they appear on the map (M). Once discovered, you can fast travel.

You can also press (J) to pull up your journal and (E) to activate quests and map markers.

Get mods here.

Have you tried many of the graphic improvements ones? When I get my new machine I'll install skyrim, but I've seen some of te textures, awful!!

Nice find! I'll try it out later.

I would use the new mesh mod asap... it is an improvement to a bad vanilla rather than a bonus extra.

I could suggest some great weather mods, or lots of other great mods for you to try. I have around around 100 mods total.
