I guess dissapointing in the sense that there`s no real difference ?

Encoding-wize must point to processing achievements in some sense.

Maybe the way games are dependant ? I don`t personally point cpu/mobo at gaming feats, I don`t see the evidence first hand. So in the same breathe I don`t read too much into gaming benchmarkers that allow a huge swing in points due to the cpu.

When dual GX2 is possible or dual 3870x2 I think the cores may come in handy.

Core tech is crazy in games. The industry behaves as if they`ve been thrown a piece of alien tech and are taking freakin ages to utilize it cos they don`t speak martian.

Core tech in general use really is getting there at a snail`s pace imo, with utils, apps and everyday stuff. But I only feel this is cos they`ve stolen the martian translation book from the game devs, but ripped a few pages as they grasped it.

If I spend a LOT of cash on a mobo and CPUs I expect to see a HUGE improvement in performance.

Perfectly agree with u there, always look at it as horses for courses when building for other people.

Used to be very much that way for my own stuff, but every once in a while u get an opportunity, and imo if ur used to playing it close, u can justify splashing out. Particularly if u`ve planned for it.
