Silently running a Socket 462 (A)

Well I`ll be..

I`ve got a fist full of Scythe Ninjas here and earlier today I put the 2nd pc into my latest project (I`m gonna post something long and descriptive at a later date I assure u).

Now me being a little forgetful, the nicely speedy 2600+ is a Skt 462.. I kinda forgot tbh. It`s a small link in a chain more than adequate for the task it has - so hey.

The Ninjas (plus rev b) seem to do every chipset after 462 >.<

So - my dilema is 2 fold; 1) can I get a 3rd party mounting plate from somewhere ? 2) can I get a skyscraper type air cooler similar in size to the Ninja - and more-or-less as effective ?

(and I don`t want my pants brought down over the pricing)

p.s. it`s running @ 49/50 deg atm on a stock amd cooler :(

Those socket A's always run warm.

My old pc was doing around that, except the computer actually sings like a frickin Tornado, and im not exagerating, dont no what it is lol

Ya warm is fair, i`d`ve liked to have seen it rest @ 40-45 without any clocking on a stock controller tho.

Trouble is the house is baking under the outside heat atm.

I`m wondering if the version b4 the plus-rev-b had a mount plate for it, dunno.

Guess I could post in the sales section and see if some1 like XMS has one in their closet :p

Surely a backplate is easy enough to make. You just need some sheet metal an some good dense foam. Cut the metal to size drill 4 holes and stick the foam to it.

I kinda weighed that option up against a Thermaltake Tower 102 that was maybe £7...

I got the Tower :p works well, put 2 Silentpower fans either side of it. Speedfan reports it at 40/42, I`m happy with that ;)

 Hodgstar stops sizing up the pile of off cuts, puts the foam down and skulks of back to his garage to think of something else to make:freak:
