Silencing the waterchiller

Recently I bought one of the waterchillers from the guys at special tech. I did ask them about the volume of the chiller and they told me it was quite loud and I decided to ignore their advice. Well they were spot on as usual. So then on to reducing the volume on this thing, the Titan 150. Managed to get the stock fan off and this is it, or as close as makes no difference - http://www.suntronix.com/eng/produc...page=&smode=&Search_Text=&mode=&pro_v=&pro_a=

Now its a 120mm fan rated at around 100cfm and 47 decibels, any body got any advice on what to replace this with. The mounting looks like this

.

As you can see there is only one fan space and the rest is shrouded off and I cannot remove it.

As far as I see it my options are:

1) use a single quieter 120mm fan which is way underpower

2) try some ducting apparatus and get more than one quiet fan to push air through that single mounting.

3) place several fans on the back side of the radiator/ condenser (i think) and have them blow out the shrouded side where the original fan was mounted

Any ideas or suggestions?

i would say remove that shroud and replace it with one made from like MDF that can take 2/4 120mm fans

Shroud and condenser look quite familiar, looks like Ron's parts.

As for the fan, I suggest sticking to a single fan, a 120mm is good, or if you can find a larger axial fan, go for it! Otherwise, pickup a panaflo that does 80cfm and you'll be happy.

Wow, i thought they were pelt cooled, not phase.

Any chance you can provide a few more pics?

How is the shroud attactched? looks liek rivets?

I'd say get a decent 120mm fan like a Sharkoon 120mm and see how it goes.

That must be one of the more expensive chillers if it's phase based

Its not hugely expensive as the evaporator is just a coil of copper tubing if I remember correctly. The perfomance is also just not there sadly as well.

I would love to be able to remove the shroud but...

I can't get to these screws under the pipes plus the other parts are welded and this thing cost too much to break.

Ham, heres an overview pic as well and I thought that it was a pelt too until I bought it and cracked the thing open.

The overall performance should not really be an issue i am not looking to run sub zero, running the water less than ambient will keep me happy.
