Should I RMA my 780 classified?

Hey guys, so have had my Classy for about a couple weeks now. LOVE the performance but unfortunately it's making a lot of noise.

Can you guys take a listen to this vid and see if you think it's acceptable. Might have tyo turn the volume up a bit as my phone sound recording quality is pretty shoddy but i assure you it's rather loud. The grinding/buzzing sound you hear starts at around 56% fan speed and gets worse as the speed increases

I've listened to it 5 times now on full headset volume and sounds fine to me, actually the fans sound quieter than my crap 6790 at 56% but that said I can't hear any grinding/buzzing just a loud-ish fan whiiiir.

that's quite normal i'd say, my palit is making the same noise. as long as you can't hear it with headphones it's all fine.

How can you not hear it..? it's not the air sound it's the grinding noise that's accompanying it. I can upload another with the fans at 100% where the noise seems to subside and maybe you'll see what i mean as all you'll hear then is air

OK Headset #2 I can pick out a TV static type sound which comes in when the PWM of the fan gets stronger..

Your fan speed at 100% sounds like my 7950 @50% i dont see what the problem is...
Maybe you are running the fan to high? ive never needed more than 50% even with a %20 overclock.

Yeah that doesn't sound massively healthy, reminds me of the sound those old transformer plugs used to make after some time.

Firstly if its audible and it annoys you then RMA it.

I have had 3, one of my original pair had a horrific squeal which was the fan bearing at the power end. You could hear it from behind a door in the next room at all speeds so I returned it to Scan and bough another from OCUK (scan were not helpful at all but eventually refunded me). Now the new one is absolutely flawless from 35 to 100% it's fantastic in every situation.

The second of the original pair makes a slight rubbing sound, it's not bad but if the door is off you notice it's louder than the other but it's barely noticeable in the case. I've found that when it slows down from load (60-80%) it seems to rattle the cooling fins and make a rumbly grindy noise that resonates at around 45%. I tweaked my fan profile so they both stay at 35% until they hit 40c and that seems to be keeping them beautifully quiet idling and obviously a little roar on load but no nasty sounds.

I really don't rate the quality of the fans, 1 out of 6 was totally shot and another isn't spot on. If I get problems in the future I think I will contact EVGA and see if they will send me a fan instead of RMA'ing the card. I hate all the effort and down time, especially scan taking about 2 weeks to issue a refund after not dispatching a replacement for 3 days straight.

In my video the fan speed is never above 65% so maybe that'll put it more in context

i don't know how the RMA rights are in the UK, but i pretty much RMA anything i am not completely satisfied with as long as i have a backup part.

On my ex GTX780 Classified sound level was exactly, exactly as on second video EVGA GTX780 FTW ACX... maybe 5% stronger... but that depend of distance from microphone... But that's exactly my impression of ACX where you can't notice sound in close case under 70-75% speed. On your video sounds looks like over 80% and microphone very, very near card... And I notice not constant sound... like fan speed change or something... If you go with RMA ask EVGA to send you only cooler... I would no way to send my sample of card if some similar problem show up...I would not sell my KP Classified under 1500e and confirmation that other sample is sent to me...I would not change even for 2x GTX780Ti reference... Only cooler I could send... If you are satisfied with card why to risk again, better change cooler only.
I must say I had HD5870 reference where fan sound similar as your like someone change speed constant on 5 sec... Guy who bought from me had other reference fan and he replace and now fan sound is normal. Only on mine card that was much bigger difference...

what? no manufacturer will only replace the cooler and a 780 classy isn't worth 1500e either.

I think there's a currency mix up somewhere as Vlada011 is in Serbia, they have the Dinar I'm confused is 1500e supposed to be Euros? If it is that's way way to high a value.

RMA that thing i just rma'd my card for the same sound they will send u a new one and it will be silent i have 2 in sli 1 did that the other is perfectly silent!

I love to count in euro everything, it's easier. And many price online presented in our countries are in euro, than I change before pay...
I only say I would not sell mine card for under 1500e because I love she, and I think it's possible to replace him ACX cooler... I don't need, my work OK. I know what I and guy who order survive few days waiting that card, in days when people in USA couldn't bought my card arrive in Serbia.
Guy told me after that... Look and next time find something even harder for shopping...:)
Hole mess was made only to I get card and to pay less possible price... Because when EVGA send in Belgrade no negotiation how they need to send and to use low cost shipping.
They have own methods to protect package and that cost more, only shipping could cost 70-80-100e...And guy who live in Munich near EVGA Europe try to pay with firm but they didn't allow because cards is only for end user... Than guy from Serbia order from his personal Pay Pal and EVGA send to other who live in Munich because only 10e shipping and he bring me card when arrive with car every month. And now I to sell card, no way and 1500e is small price for that...Because of that I tell 1500e... For me card worth much more, she have much higher value for me.
If you order GTX780Ti KP Classified from Serbia you will not pass under 1400e no way, and probably more, and that probably after complaint on custom tax, but for complaint you must to pay something and wait again about 10 days to custom estimate package again. Than when custom hear you call non stop about some package, than they make holes, look with little camera, dogs sniff and lick your package, employments jump on package and similar things...

Only I say it would be much much easier sending one cooler from Serbia than hole card... Anyway my go under water for few weeks.
You want to say someone must send golden sample if one fan grind example...I think it's possible to send cooler and they to send you new... Same as EVGA sell ACX for Titan Black/GTX780Ti/Titan/GTX780... only here cooler is bigger but they didn't make same number of coolers and cards 100%...That's financial suicide.
