well iv done a few threads as use know by now about my next rig il be building, after doin abit of research,is it worth just buying another q6600 GO

Over the 45nm q9450 and 9550 series??

the multiplier in the GO is 9,compared to 8.5 in the 9550 and 8 in the 9450 and from what iv read and been told by numerous people, the 45nm dont like a high overclock, what do use all think,if i do indeed get another q6600 GO il be saving a heap load of $$$,thanks for any feedback given

So you are going to be building a new rig around either the 45nm or 65nm procs...but what about Nehalem? It's going to require the purchase of a new motherboard because of the change in socket. It'd be a pity to have a rig become somewhat obsolete because of a processor socket change. Personally I'd just stay with what you have until Nehalem arrives.

unfortunately my current rig got sold ,lastnight,so i am looking for a decent upgrade, nehalem will be out when? early next yr sometime ey??

so im not to worried about that for now, just curious what would out do what when it comes to overclocking a q6600 cpu or overclocking a q9550 both on water, any input would be great, thanks anyways

I'm also thinking about what to choose, between a Q6600 or a E8400 or maybe a Q9300. I know the E8400 should clock like a maniac, but is there any point in going from quad to duo? Also, I want benchresults...Good ones. My Q6600 G0 gets around 5500 CPU-points in 3Dmark06 (OC'ed). I read a review of the Q9300, and it seemed like it didn't OC that well (this was compared to an E6750). The reason I want to know what to choose is cause I'm building a new rig for my girl, and if the Q9300 M1 is better, I'd probably get one of those for myself, and leave her with the Q6600.
