damaged card

turned pc on tonight, and got the detecting new hardware box !

turns out it's found a new display adapter, funny i thought because i haven't changed my card. so i removed my drivers and restarted, tried to reload my drivers but it says that it can't find a ati based card in my system.

it's a powercolor x800pro vivo flashed to xp-pe.

it been running fine for 4 months.

any ideas ?

I heard a lot of this happening when they first came out not long after people flashed them they died? Did you leave it running at xt-pe speeds 24/7 or did you flash it back to pro bios then o/c it??

it hasn't died as such, it still runs in standard vga mode. it's just not posible to load the drivers. get message can't find ati device. it has been running 520/560 since it was flashed to 16 pipes, never flashed it back to lower the clock speed

since new it's been cooled via 80w pelt average -8c idle +12 under load

found out whats wrong with the card, or i should say dazboots found out. ran atitool to check it and it's now only running with 8 active pipe lines !

so i think thats why the ati drivers would register it as an ati card and why it was still working to a fashion.

time to clean up and rma i thinks

Have you not tried to reflash the BIOS to see if flashing it back to 12 / 16 pipes works?
