SEGA are to release a Mega Drive Mini Console in October

Hot on the heels of Nintendo, Sega has announced a Mega Drive Mini Console with 80 built-in games, wireless controllers, and compatibility with original cartridges.

Nintendo's plan to release the mini nes must have ringed an alarm at Sega's HQ, nice to see, so many people will hoard and buy those things

The Sega console is clearly a better value, but I'll probably end up buying both. The classic Super Mario Games alone make the NES console worth it in my opinion.

Just remember how terrible retro games look on modern day HD TV's though without some kind of post process filter box.

They were designed with CRT displays in mind.

This is something I will actually buy, unlike the mini-Nintendo... provided it comes to America.

And here people said the cartridge technology couldn't be replicated again. pfft.

These consoles are not new, I have one for 2 years now. Picked it up from Argos for 30quid with like 60 free games but most of them junk. The wireless controllers are infrared and act like TV removes only sending signal when pressed once and ofc line of sight issues. You need to buy the original controllers to plug into these things but the sound is junk on the inbuilt games. Android emulator on my shield is the way I play now.

There are unofficial ones, have been for some time, but these fully branded ones are great. I'll probably get them both, this one for sure with the cartridge compatibility Hope it works with the Sonic & Knuckles + Sonic 2/3 stack. Edit: saying that the box has the box art for both of those.. so maybe it works out the box with those... interesting
