I can't really see how Seagate will benefit out of this other than taking out the competition.

IMO both companies produced similar spec hard disks, so it's not like they are going to learn anything from eachother.

Im with XMS on this, tbh Seagates are little better than Maxtors.

This has actually been agreed now. That was just a rumour. We got told by Seagate themselves.
