Sea of Thieves is Microsoft's 'most successful' new IP of this generation

Well, Microsoft's new first-party stuff hasn't been that great so far. ReCore, Quantum Break and Sunset Overdrive were not overwhelmingly popular. This could be a case of being the best of a bad bunch.

The problem with this game is that there doesn't seem to be much to do content-wise, which means that a lot of players are enjoying the initial gameplay and then dropping off. I imagine that the Game Pass is doing wonders for Sea of Thieves as it does give a good incentive to try it out.

I've seen no shortage of people playing Sea of Thieves, though I don't think there will be many people that are still playing the game after a few months.
