sata card trouble

well i tried installing sata card into my old pc but it wouldnt let me install drivers,it said it couldnt detect the hardware,it showed up in device manager but thats about it,tried both free pci slots too.

also tried it in the one free pci slot on my main rig but now it doesnt even show in device manager:eh:

any ideas whats going on?

is it being picky about the slots or what?

i dont have a clue whats going on and its starting to cheese me off

Has it got a floppy drive type power input on it ? I`ve seen some Revo ones with this.

What make is it ?

powered by pci slot,its a generic sata card with a via chipset

i have an update too

took out my soundcard and tried it in that slot,picked up fine then installed drivers

restarted the pc and it gets to the xp loading bars first movement halfway thru and just locks up

does the soundcard work in the other pci slots?

i didnt bother trying it in the spare slot after the sata card.

i got fed up

finally got it to work

went and put together a system with parts i had laying around and it worked fine in there
