"Samsung Electronics is sampling its 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch 64 Gigabyte (GB) solid state drives (SSD) with a super-fast SATA (Serial ATA) II/native SATA interface."
Jeez they are small (phsically and capacity) I'm sure they cost a fortune too.
Something I saw a while back looked interesting, hdd/nand hybrid - has some nand mem for storing commonly used files with the standard platters for the bulk of the data, maybe a happy medium between standard hdd-ssd's...
SATA connection is convenient for the future. 3g speeds for a drive that does 120m, should mean it`ll run flat out. They should really look at utilizing that spare overhead tho, perhaps by parallel`ing a bunch of them to be r/w over 1 SATA connection. Say 64g x4 capacity.
Can see the price rocketing then mind u, £1.5k+. in so many years, who knows. Ur only paying for the tech atm, the parts can cosh much.
