These companies will not learn the damn PCB should be black and i don't care how many people tell me i'm wrong i don't care it's my point of view on this.

It's designed for OEMS who don't care for looks so much would be my guess!
Think workstations/servers etc.

IMO it doesn't matter cause gamers are going to buy these as well, why can't they come out with 2 version of these Green = OEM & Black = Gamers.

Most if not all of the Z97 and maybe Z170 (i don't know cause i don't one never will) the M.2 slot is in the front where you can always see it now if you put a green one in there it's going to stick out like a sore thumb.

Every time these companies bring out a M.2 SSD and the PCB is green i will just shake my head as i have said it wouldn't even cost that much more just to make them all black PCB's.

It's just companies cutting corners by making green PCB's

Gamers are SUCH a small margin and enthusiasts who would care about a green PCB are even rarer. On this forum there are like 20 people, maybe, who would openly complain about it. From maybe like 20K active users. That's not a lot is it? and this is an enthusiast based Forum. I know many places where it doesnt even matter that your GPU has a Blue PCB and your Motherboard is Brown. So a green PCB on a small SSD isnt going to hurt.

Also Samsung will soon bring out a Blacked out version for more money to please the snobs.

I don't care they can still do it but they chose not too and yes i'm a snob when it comes to things like this.

Also if you're trying to change my point of view/opinion it's not going to work.

My point is that if you have a black PCB motherboard and green PCB is going to look really bad and i have said in different thread i'm a colour wh*re.

I know I'm just the same. Just pointing stuff out from a different perspective. If I wouldn't care about my rig it wouldn't look like it looks right now.

Pretty sure the retail version will be called the 960 and have a black pcb.
My 951's got a green pcb whereas the 950 is black.
Honestly, they're so small you won't notice.

The retail version (960) will probably have a longer warranty, which could be worth paying the extra over the oem for.

Sorry i still will notice cause i'm very OCD when it comes to thing like this.

I don't care IMO they all should be black it's not going to add that much more to the cost.

Same goes for GPU makers not putting Black Plates on GPU (Yes i'm pointing at MSI)

Yup - I was thinking this morning, why they didn't do the 951 in black instead of green - differentiates it from the 950 but it's the same drive.
You should see the packaging it came in - a tiny bit of bubble wrap - and that's it.
Almost threw it out with the rest of the packaging my stuff came in.
It's the most unimpressive looking bit of high end kit you'll receive - but I love it - my favourite bit of kit.

Now I'm looking at it, dwarfed by my gfx card and thinking - why didn't they do it in black - might do a little cover for it.

Isn't the convention on most recent motherboards to put the M2 slot on the underside of the board though? In which case whether it was black or green is completely moot as you won't see it anyway :p

It's too early morning to do the sums but I reckon you wouldn't have enough bandwidth from the available pci-e lanes to make that worthwhile.
Plus, in real world apps you wouldn't notice the difference.

Who cares, you RAID them because its simply #baller

Mine's on top but obscured by gfx card.
If it's a problem when my lights are on it I'll put a colour matched heatsink on it.

No not on all Motherboards some of them are just below the CPU socket even if the M.2 slot was on the back it would still annoy me cause i know what colour it is so it's not a moot point with me i'm very very very OCD.

The best thing about these, apart from performance and knowing you have the fastest, smallest drive on the planet, is that they take up zero space on your rig.
Lays flat on the mobo, no wires or cables.
And they're really small.
They're such a tidy fit, they make everything else look old tech.

(the green pcb and cruddy sticker are presumably to differentiate them from the mainstream, black pcb, retail version which will follow and I'll lay money on it being called the 960)
