Samsung begins mass producing their first 10nm SoC

They really need to reclassify there NM naming scheme. These aren't true 10nm chips, it's more akin to 12nm and at the same time, still behind Intel's 14nm.

Or I guess on the other hand Intel needs to rename there NM classification to make it seem they are still leading the industry instead of Samsung(which intel still is). Even if they hit 7nm, Intels 10nm will still be more advanced, simply because of transistor density/sq is as much as 40% higher, offering the same benefits at a smaller node at a reduced price(well, Intel still charge an arm and a leg, but you know what I mean)

Come on, cut them some slack. They did the right thing by recalling everything and going out of pocket..

Its getting old. Not like they did it on purpose. One has to wonder how this managed to pass QA in the first place though.

Ummmm... No. The issue that caused this problem with their phones has been in existence for at least two generations of phone, and they have done nothing about it until now. How do i know? We (as in my family) had a similar issue with the galaxy s6. It got ridiculously hot when charging: to the point where smoke was coming off the surface it was sitting on. Reported the issue and we were told that it was water damaged (don't know how since it was in a water proof case to stop rain etc, but ok).

Replaced it with a new one, within 1 week, being extra careful not to get it wet, we had a fire caused by it. Had to claim the damage and the phone. Thankfully no one was hurt, as the fire was caught and extinguished while out was still small. Again they said the phone was water damaged. There is no way that it was, unless it was prior to then handing it to us. As an aside: i used a blanket to extinguish the fire.

Sure it's a different model of phone, but same issue, and they kept trying to push the blame back onto us. Does this sound like taking responsibility?

I personally won't be purchasing any more of their phones. Not because of the possibility of fire, but because they would not take due responsibility for the issue. And it's a shame, i used to love their phones.

Anyways, this has me riled, so I'm bowing out now. Peace out.

Edit: apologies for hijacking the thread.
