Russian Nuclear scientists have been arrested after using a supercomputer to mine

What do you think our weather men are doing with their super computers as they never get their forecasts right.:D

Knew it !

When they were talking of a heatwave in January they were talking about their GPU racks not the actual weather !!! ^_^

To be fair it takes a massive amount of Computer power to actually predict things like that. They even say our current super computers are barely enough and to predict a 7 day span is challenging. Which is why it updates to something else everyday.

Quantum Computing would really help solve that problem though ^_^

They probably couldn't care less about them making money from it, just more concerned it would allow a back door entry into their networks...

Secure it more then. Honestly it's worth it and to be fair there's always a way to hack something.

If they were that worried then seperate their networks^_^

Cyka Blyat! While genius for using a super computer, pure idiots for using one that handles classified information and nuclear information at that.

While genius for using a super computer
There's nothing genius about it. It's the most obvious thing in the world. If you have access to a supercomputer, how are you not supposed to at least entertain the idea of using it to mine cryptocurrency? There's no intuitive leap there, no thinking outside the box. It's a fairly linear thought pattern of greedy people.

Did the computer just have an unplugged ethernet cable or something? Considering it's a system designed not to be connected in any way, you'd have thought it would have been a bit more difficult to achieve?

I thought this as well. Surely a machine of that power joining any mining pool is going to raise a few eyebrows and get people looking in to it?
