ROG Build

Dicehunter

Resident Newb
Always wanted to do my own ROG type build and now I finally can
smile.gif

The rig is almost done, Just need to neaten up the cables a bit more, 1 or 2 details here and there, A few cable combs and I'm done.

I took the SSD apart, Sanded down the metal shell, Painted it black, Baked it in the oven for just over an hour *This is a real thing
tongue.gif
* and once it cooled I put some Carbon Fiber Di-Noc on to it as well as the HDD.

**Sorry about the picture quality my camera isn't the best

Changed the white rings on the SP fans from white to a nice matt black, I did try red but they looked very out of place with the whole build -

Cable combs came in yesterday, Decided to go with transparent -

24 Pin cable comb -

Installed an LED strip along the bottom under the mobo and under the right side of the mobo, No point installing at the top as it wouldn't be very visible and would clash with the white from the fans at the top and rear -

Awesome rig man, pretty much identical to the components I want in my new rig (Apart from I'm gonna get Z97 Hero and put it in a 760t or 750D).

Finally found someone with that memory, How do you find it? When i get my new PC I am going to get that memory specifically if people speak only good things about it.

It's brilliant, I overclocked it to 2500MHZ stable not to mention it looks awesome ^_^

On a side note my friend also just got a Z97 board, He's taken off the vrm/mosfet heatsinks ready for a water block and he noticed a small logo under the heatsink on the board intself "Z87 Revision 2" :p

Things will have been tweaked here and there but from what I've seen and from what I've been told by various reviewers a large part of it is software based i.e bios etc...
Z97 is pretty much Z87 just more "Refined"...

Just ordered myself 4 x of these LED's that come pre-assembled with a 3 pin fan header for easy use -

Which will go behind the motherboard in the spots highlighted with red dots to give the board a soft red underglow :) -

Very clean build you have there!

Just an idea - can you put the leds under the plastic motherboard cover? Paint the back of it white or silver to make it really reflective and that will give a few subtle red accents to your motherboard :).

Awesome build! Great idea with the LEDs

Thank you, Got the idea after watching fast and furious ^_^

That could be easily done yes but I would prefer the glow to come from the actual underneath of the mobo for a more uniform and orderly appearance :)

I think that would look really good, I think the hoses need to be re-positioned, covering your pretty RAM :)

True but then the glowing red Corsair logo would be obstructed as well as part of the ROG logo in the middle, Can't win either way ^_^

personally the rings on the fans should be red, not black. The upper part of the case needs more contrast. also,

LACING!

Tried red rings and they looked very out of place with the rest of the rig also I'm currently installing red LED strips behind the motherboard at the bottom, Top and the right so it has a nice under glow.

Cable lacing is nice but I prefer cable combs, Still waiting for my 24 pin and 8 pin combs, They add a little something and look nice when the light shines through them :)

Very nicely done! Just right mix of red/black. I agree with you on the fans, look very nice done in just a stealth black. Without the color around the edge, the eye is drawn to the lovely work in the center of the case. Matrix Platinum is going to look and perform amazing for you. I hope you get it soon.

I am waiting to see how the MB looks with the red outline. That's a new idea on me as I was pretty much going to go with only white LED strips.

Thanks for posting
