Heya peeps,

i bought myself a new Roccat Kave headset and because my motherboard didnt have the needed jacks i bought a asus xonar DG aswell. Now that i have installed both i have a constant static noise in the headset wich is really annoying. it only appears when the USB port from the headset is in the pc. it also happens on my dads pc! it is really annoying and i really just want to listen to nice music and go on skype to play games and chat with friends. But this way it is not doable! its so annoying. Ive read that others have the same problem but i really cant find any solutions that seem to work for me.

please help

with regards

i also have the same headset.... with no problems at all... the best headset iv ever owned tbh! i did notice some static when i unplugged the jacks to connect speakers up![ i would leave the usb plugged in] if one or more of the jacks where touching the back of my case, as its mental i would then notice some static.. i would then just move them away from the case, no static then!

not sure that helps you thou!

hmmm aah it might be helpfull, but i dont see how i can fix this :S can you tell me what motherboard, case, soundcard you have ?

with regards

old stuff now tbh

Tai-Chi - Thermaltake case

asus p5e3 ws pro {i hate} a {replacement} board, as i killed my other one gigabyte. i had a leak!

Creative Labs X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatality Sound Card

not sure telling u this helps u either

guys i figured that if the problem is created by the usb cable, maybe it would help to buy a usb extender and plug the usb into another usb port like a hub or into my screen. maybe then it doesnt have EMI (electromagnetic interferance). Do you guys think this idea will work ? since i will have to purchase the cable and i dont want to waste 10 euros if someone can allready tell me it wont work.

i couldn't tell you tbh!

very strange, [maybe a stupid question] but did u make sure u pushed usb and jacks all the way in!

haha, yes i did, not stupid at all sometimes the most fucked up problems are solved by something easy

but its getting rather annoying! and im using it with the xonar DG and in bf3 every explosion sounds like it is in a metal box annoying as shit, and its not even on one of those presets wich says ROOM, FOREST or that kind of bullocks

did you turn your onboard sound off in bios? sometimes you have too!... i didn't, but i remember the brother saying he had too!

did you try moving your sound card to another pcie slot?

not me... i got this of some forum with the same issues as urself!

I had this problem yesterday! Static and popping from my headset. It occurred after I had installed new drivers.

Now, I am running Win XP (old I know), so I don't know if this will be relevant to the poster. I also have a Creative Audidgy sound card installed. I used Creatives auto search and installation process which is supposed to remove the old drivers as it installs the new ones, but I got the message during installation that 'You have previously installed drivers without re-starting your PC. Please re-start and try again'.

Well this was odd, because I had, had the sound card for months and shut down my PC every day!

I decided to manually install the drivers and ended up with the same static as before. So, once again I uninstalled the drivers and started to check if they had been PROPERLY uninstalled. At first glance, i.e in program files, install/remove programs under Control Panel all seemed well, but when I looked in Device Manager it still showed the old drivers present. I had even removed the registry entries manually too!

The solution was to delete the driver from Sound, Video and Game Controllers in Device Manager. No more static.

I have also discovered another problem causing the same static/popping sounds.

I had a Firewire 1394 card installed in the same slot as my sound card is now. Although I had previously uninstalled the card and disabled the drivers, I hadn't uninstalled the drivers from device manager, and it caused the same problem.

Solution was to uninstall from Device Manager.

It's really easy to make an error like this because I had removed the Firewire card long before I added the sound card, and simply forgot where the Firewire card was!

hope this helps!

ah ty for the input mate, ive read that before, but i havent installed any other cards except for my gpu on this mobo so i cant think of anything interfering :S

Go in to your BIOS and enable all spread spectrums (you may have to revert to stock clocks and find a new stable overclock if your chips are OCd). Also reinstall the DG's drivers as they are XP drivers and I have had all sorts of problems with mine because of drivers. Make sure all your settings like channels and sample rate etc are set to the 96Khz 16-bit

i cant seem to find spread spectrum anywhere! btw the other tip is great! but the protocol, i dont know shit about audio, so what settings should i tick and untick in the dg option menu! because it doesnt ring a bell

i found the spread spectrum but it was allready enabled... and i could only find one spread spectrum option in the tweaker menu.

You want 2 channels at 96Khz sample rate and 16-bit quality (max supported by the DG). Enable Dolby Headphone if you like. Roccat's site says the impedance is 10 Ohms but there's no option for that in my Audio Centre though your's may be different. Enable virtual surround too if you wish.

Asus software is atrocious btw

ive read online that people talk about enabling dolby headphone, but i cant seem to find that

, also i see the 96khz and 2channels but i dont see anything about 16-bit or 10 ohms in dg menu

but ty allready for helping me with this.
