Miscellaneous options "Xtreme Burning Mode", "Displacement mapping" and "Post FX" tested on my passively cooled PowerColor HD5750 1GB 40nm DX11.
All tests had it stressed on "Stability Test" for 60 min at 1920x1080(Fullscreen) with 0x MSAA overclocked at 800MHz(core)/1300MHz(memory).
Moreover my case is a Fractal Design R3 with 2x120mm Fractal Design Silent Series front intake and 2x120mm Fractal Design Silent Series rear/top exhaust, the other top grill aswell as the side grill are covered by the soundproofing pads provided by the R3. All fans are spinning on 900rpm, practically silent.
Other relevant temperature factors include:
#1: My sound card which is installed 2 slots above my GPU may be blocking some heat trying to rise to the top.
#2: My Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2 is mounted 90º "wrong" so the 92mm fan (set on silent, so about 800rpm) blows air through the heatsink up towards the top fan instead of blowing it through the heatsink out the left side towards my rear fan.
#3: I have a passive PSU, the Seasonic X-460, so obviously some heat will rise through the top honeycomb towards my graphics card.
#4: I have a HDD at 27ºC in the case.
Results:
Min-Max(Avg)FPS / Max tempºC / Options checked
20-21(20) / 76ºC / Xtreme Burning Mode+Displacement mapping+Post FX
20-22(20) / 77ºC / Xtreme Burning Mode+Displacement mapping
21-23(21) / 76ºC / Xtreme Burning Mode
30-44(35) / 75ºC / Displacement mapping+Post FX
31-45(35) / 76ºC / Displacement mapping
39-62(45) / 74ºC / Post FX
39-64(46) / 75ºC
Obvious observations made based around my results:
FX: Makes the workload slightly higher but, in my case, decrease temps 1ºC.
DM: Makes the workload significantly higher but, in my case, only increase temps 1ºC.
XBM: Makes the workload hugely different but, in my case, only increase temps 1º.
For highest possible temperature: XBM and DM activated.
For highest possible workload: XBM, DM and FX activated.
Important: These are only my results and observations based around my rig, take everything I mentioned with a grain of salt, what the hell do I know? Oh and sorry for any spelling/grammatical errors, english isn't my native language. Thanks for me.
