hey

how would i go about restricting internet speed to a specific account on a network?

eg:

i have 8mbps internet

i want computer/account A to only have 40kb/s available to it

and i want computer/account B to have unlimited internet to it

how would i accomplish this? what hardware/software would i need?

ne help would be most helpful

I believe u can go about doing this by changing windows qos settings from the admin control panel. Id check this out 4 u but im at work right now.

Yeah i think frags on to something there. Also, this can be done if you have a half decent router for your internet connection. My ZyXel allowed me to set the bandwidth available per IP address.

Wow thats a pretty cool idea actually :).

Too bad I don't know how to do it. Maybe the guide king could write a guide on it? :)

i would like the accounts to be on any machine

preferably i would like to set the restrictions dynamically dependant on the CLIENT and which machine he or she chose.

that would be kinda difficult but ill check on it. one thing you can surely do is restrict by machine (i.e. a certain computer has a limited download speed). the way you want it is by means of a software and im checking on it
