What polar opposite results you found compared to Guru3D's performance review. Something must have been out of whack with their system or drivers as the Fury X performed really poorly and erratically.
It's fantastic to see the Fury line still hold strong in these big titles. After a couple of poor performance numbers over the last four months, I'm glad to see the Fury line pick things up again and remain competitive.
The big difference is that they used Max settings, which is insanely VRAM intensive and I found to cause a lot of framerate instability on even the GTX 1080.
In my testing, I opted for what I called "high" settings in the review, which provided these results. I wouldn't recommend higher as it caused a lot of issues, especially on the old NV driver.
Amazing how well the Fury X performs in this game
I am running at 1440p with a Fury X and a 3.5ghz 8 core Ivy. I hadn't seen this article so I cranked everything to the max apart from AA and I get a stutter every ten seconds or so but nothing that makes it annoying. I will probably reduce the settings later, obviously a VRAM issue looking at your charts, Mark.
But yeah, even with the stutters it's still very playable. Obs it's quite a slow paced game any way. Graphics are far from the best I have seen though.
Thanks for doing this dude![]()
My advice is to go to page 2 of the review and base your settings on what I list as "high", then choose your preferred AA type and set Texture Filtering to Very high.
Very high Shadows have a huge impact on VRAM, which can cause issues in 4GB cards.
Just curious but how did you benchmark this ? Does it have a built in utility or did you just choose a random bit of the game ?
