A replacement Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has reportedly exploded in Taiwan, only 10 days after the original purchase.

Well, bad battery grade cells, no overvoltage/overcurrent protection, etc, etc and at high load causes it to go boom

Thats the thing, why would these have been ommited in the first place. This is hardly a budget unit.

Could be along the lines of Samsung bought a bad batch of batteries and hasn't pointed any fingers yet because they want to be sure. In which case there is gonna be one giant lawsuit

If that was the case, then the replacements shouldnt have this issue. They would have isolated it or replaced it entirely by now.

Unless of course the replacement was mistakenly obtained from an affected batch.
