Refresh rate overclocking, Is it safe ?

Noticed theres a pixel clock control option in Precision X, Is it safe to up the refresh rate or could I break my monitor, My monitor is an Asus MX279H AH-IPS, Any info is appreciated :)

That monitor is so overpriced... Anyway refresh overclocking isn't worth the risk of killing the monitor or losing pixels. Also not covered by warrenty so that's something to consider and for how expensive your Asus i wouldn't even try.

It is if you buy it brand new, I got it from overclockers.co.uk in one of their "B-Grade" sales, The box it came in was badly scuffed but the monitor was fine, All the sticky back film still on etc... so I only paid £140 for it brand new :)

Ahh i see. Even if it still has the warrenty then overclocking it's refresh rate will void it. That is if they could even tell you overclocked it... I doubt they would be able to find out and you could claim it just wouldn't turn on etc for an excuse to have it replaced. Just a thought. Kind of the same as a GPU and the manufacter can't tell if the card has been overclocked.

Think I'll leave it then ^_^

Overclocking the refresh rate will crack the screen by cracking the pixels. I did this in class while creating a VB script in which bumped the refresh from 60 to 75hz. It put a crack right down the center of the screen.
