Well after reworking my system last night and ditching WinXP (I friggin' hate XP!!!
) because it was giving me random BSOD's and all sorts of crap. I've now got Win2k3 back on it and everything is running smooth except for one small thing.
My sound is acting up. The MSI mobo I am using has the Realtek AC'97 onboard (I have ordered an X-Mystique for cheap already just to see if this fixes it) but if I can get the onboard working good I'll sell of the Auzen card. Anyhow, whenever the computer is "thinking" or accessing the HD or using excessive CPU usage the sound will stutter/crackle. This is most notable in games. While playing LOTRO or WoW whenever the game lags or has a hard time keeping up the sound will stutter and it sounds awful. I've never had this problem before. I am thinking it's a conflict with Win2K3 as I'm sure these audio drivers were never meant for server OS's.
I just wanted to check and see if anyone else has experienced this problem and maybe found a workaround. I have the newest drivers installed from Realtek's page and audio acceleration is maxed out in Windows sound settings.
What's the deal?
