Really worth it?

Is water cooling really worth it? What kind of drops in temps are we talking about? Personal experiences are welcomed (like everyone here xD).

I havn't been on decent air cooling for a while, so i couldnt give you any raw figures. But what i will say is that Water Cooling has always allowed me to pump more voltage through my chip without significant heat increase - which means better overclocking :D

3.1ghz on my Opy and 4.68ghz on my P4 would never have been obtainable under Air cooling for me.

I could get 2.8GHz on air on this chip...with the IHS on, but temps weren't low enough and it wasn't very stable. Water allows me to run it at 2.8GHz every day :D

I think, water cooler is "stable".hardly to be hot but didn't mean easily to be cool.just stable i think.:D (before i use water cooler and after using water cooler on normal clock temps is same):D

I went from a TT BT on my 170 @ 2850mhz 1.58v to 2900mhz 1.54v. Temps dropped about 10*c at load to about 40*c. If you have the money I would suggest going for it.

Water is the way to go if you don't want to get the crazy bug and do something extreme like a SS or cascade.

With my water setup I used to crank up to 1.7v through my proccy for some extreme water benching and it stayed at an acceptable heat level for benching and never once fried a chip :)

Same as Jim though it's been a bloody long time since I've had aircooling at all, let alone some of these new fangled 120mm gigantic air coolers.

sorry,my english is bad:worship:

i mean,(without overclocking my cpu)

stock air cooler: idle:32*c load:45*C

water cooler: idle:32*c load:38*c

later,

Idle should be lower in all honesty but loads about right. Its when you OC that it makes a difference. Also what water cooling you got makes a big difference

it mean my cpu is too hot? cause Pentium D is hotest cpu i ever known.:D

I don't really know much about that system but to me it doesn't look like it will do much more than a TT BT would for ya. For $90 I would have just gone with the BT.

I was looking at wc kits and saw these:

Thermaltak BigWater

Cooler Master Aquagate

or build my own wc setup

Theyre cheap and they got decent reviews. What you guys think?

you dont want a kit:nono:

you want to build your own custom setup to take full advantage of the performance.

it doesnt matter about reveiws-you cant beat a custom setup

cheers.

Only kits that are possibly worth getting are Swiftech's Apex kits and MAYBE Asetek's Waterchill kits. That's it. And anyways, they're basically DIY loops that the companies put together.
