Ok.. just recieved my new mach 2..

Running Asus A7N8X-E MOBO

Athlon XP 2400+ @ 200 x 12.5

I've reattached the microfreezer 2 times now and cpu idles +30c!!

what am i doing wrong?..

i checked the connection after the 1st attempt and

thermal paste looked good and even over the whole cpu and

even on the cpu shim.

then prometia reads -35 on the front display

ambient temps are approx 28-30C.

Also I am having troubles getting usb to recognize.

I had to change the usb pinning to match my usb header.

red/white/green/black. but nogo?

any help would be appreciated

thanks

bruce

3rd attempt.. same results..

please help

thanks

Is anyone else running A7N8X mobo?

If i look at my usb bracket that comes with the mobo it is also

pinned red/white/green/black..

in the manual that comes with the mach 2 the diagram also shows

this exact pinning?...

**AXER** what is bootloader?

thanks for the help and suggestions.

bruce

your evap temps seem low...very low...i guess youre getting good contact there?

cpu temps are way too high though...

keep trying till you get some better contact i guess?

Also if you look arround theres a guide for better contact with the mach 2 units...try these steps..sorry cant find the link...

about the usb now..in my mach 2 gt from left to right in my ASUS p4C800E deluxe it goes:

white-green-red-black

Tried moving to a different USB header?

Like BRW my USB wires run left to right white, green, red, black on the Asus P4C800-E Deluxe with Mach II GT.

Try moving your USB to a different header as on my mobo each header is rated at a different voltage i.e. 5v, 6v, 7v and 8v. Don't have a clue why but the headers are not all the same! My USB connection worked on the 5v USB header ...

I had trouble with my USB conection too, i had it wired the same as BRW, but to get the software to work I had to run open bootloader first everytime, i'd open it, close it and then open the chip control software and it worked like this everytime.

Rather weird :P

On the A7N8X this is the only internal usb header .. and it is 5v..

arrgh.. the pinning is exactly as it is in the mach2 manual.. and in my mobo

manual.. and i know the header works.. if i plug in my adaptor and plug in a mouse or something is works right away!!

thanks

Hi AxEr..

what is open bootloader? when you initially plugged in the usb to the mobo

did windows recognize it right away as new device?.. cuz i get nothing.

thanks

I switched to the pinning you suggested and voila.. she works!!

that's great..

Now just the temp problem.. I pulled the microfreezer unit off again

last night and removed one of the legs from the plastic bracket that

sits on the mobo.. i noticed that it might have been sitting on a small

component.. then reattached everything with my fingers crossed..

but still same temp's :<

I searched on contact problems and discoved the cable tie mod.

i'm gonna attempt that today and see what i can do.

I'd still like to know if anyone else is running this mobo.

thanks

Bruce

At least you got something sorted

i think some boards dont measure temps good...

why dont you pop over at www.xtremesystems.org and do a search mate...i am not too sure...but i read about a board lately not reading the temps properly...amd board it was...

Ok.. i tried a different cpu this time.. an athlon 1100. also

tried fitting little bits of cable ties between the plastic and the metal

bracket to make sure the bracket was not lifting to high.. and

same problem again.. i wonder if the bios is not reading the cpu temp

properly.. possibly it is getting a reading closer to the heating element.

I have felt the top of the microfreezer when it is running.. and is quite

warm.. this is normal?

thanks for the tips.

bruce

yes it is normal

you should touch my head now running the prescott under load.. ouch....

i think it may be a bios prob mate...not your installation

we need to investigate in that...i will do a search l8tr

Although I'm not running phase change, I am running an A7N8X in one of my rigs, and have to say the diode readingd from MBM 5 are about as accurate as the American army when in positive temps, so I wouldnt be surprised if there was a fault in the Asus at - temps. I know the NF7S doesnt read below zero correctly, so it may be a similar problem.
