Really bad fps in cs:s

Please have a look at my specs and comment on my 30fps (usually drops lower on specific maps and if say 6 people show up on the screen at once) i have tried casey's config which mande no difference, got the latest nvidia drivers etc. etc. yet i can still play painkiller on full and cod2 on mediumish with minimal slowdown but doom 3 isn't even playable on lowest!!

The Sempron is undoubtedly killing your FPS. The 6600GT's a decent card but that sempy won't handle much @ stock speeds

If your mobo supports it then pop a fully fledged 3200+ Barton Core in there - they're great CPU's

How pricey? For about £90 you can get a Asus mATX 939 board and a Venice 3000+.

Well I personally have a 2600+ Barton XP-M I would seriously e-bay for one it's a great core and I can run CS:S with everything on high, (cept HDR) thing overclocks nicely too.

If that bid doesn't raise about 20-25 ish, that's 40-45 bucks, and that's a pretty awesome deal.

im not sure....i had a 2.66ghz celly with a 9800pro and always got over 70fps, i think you have another problem somewhre...

I was wondering why, when I installed my graphics card first I was getting 60fps constant and then suddenly, 40-50fps!!

well ive formatted a total of 3 times with this card and everytime i had low fps...but before with my fx 5200 (w00t) i seemed to have higher (it seemed a lot smoother) maybe this is down to steam updating? i dno but it seems to be locked low no matter how many things i disable :S ive tried everything on low (my current setting) on the lowest reso but it still sucks - yet it can play cod2 on medium (with 1280 x 1024) near enough flawlessly Anything else i can try?

theres something you can do to make cs run in dx8 mode...anybody know what it is....you add something to your game parameters i think
