Ready?

Agreed, let's hope you guys actually get the decent one in. Having another bumbling old fool as President just wouldn't be on.

Makes no difference either way. The election is merely a popularity contest with 2 puppets.

Too bad Condalesa? Rice is going to uni, that might`ve been something.

To add to my earlier post i just thought I'd put something I posted on another forum:

I much as we hate to admit, this election has an effect on europe as much as it will in the USA. A lot of people outside of america will have an opinion - majority pro-obama - cos of the negative effect (imo) that bush and the republican party have had on global affairs.

QFT, in the UK we have to suffer the US's decisions because of a "special relationship" between our two countries which basically means we get roped into fighting in wars our country has absolutely no business in, or our economy goes into meltdown because bankers in the US were too busy selling debt and watching their pockets get fatter.

Obama is without doubt the best choice, I just hope he can make good the many mistakes left to him by his predecessors.

That`s interesting, what is it about Obama that makes him the "without doubt" choice ?

He does wear nice shirts.

If McCain pops his clogs... Palin becomes President, that is reason enough imo to vote Obama, but he has policies which are actually inventive, might be what America needs to get through the economic hard times ahead.

Well there's a lot. I support Obama because of his positions on abortion, the economy, and health care. He is a smart man that is what the American Dream is all about. McCain on the other hand is an old fool that through away his values in this campaign and recruited Sarah Palin to attempt to get the women vote. I don't think he counted on Palin being an incompetent fool and going "diva."

That word was used by a McCain senior adviser btw.

Obama is pro-choice afaik.

The economy... in what way ?

Smart ? In what way ? That he`s coached ?

McCain is an old fool ? Quite harsh and quite a broad sweeping remark of a person that ~really~ is based on looks ? Experience ?

Obama worries me as he`s a mascot. One that, even when the whole world thought "it was a good idea at the time", based on evidence provided and not opinion, voted against doing anything in Iraq. And will, according to himself, will start withdrawing troops from day1.

McCain, imo, is a blatent throw down to get Obama elected. Out of the 4 representitives, Obama/McCain/Palin/Biden, I wouldn`t elect ANY of them to run a council, yet alone what`s perceived to be the most powerful position on the planet. Palin may be an absolute cougar, but if it was Clinton/Biden or Clinton/Obama - we still wouldn`t know even who she was. How do u get that gig ? A heart attack away from being the president.

It is clear tho, the president elect will be who the media decides the public should vote for.

Strange how some1 is even put up as a candidate and they`re fully expected to die within 4 years. Almost Reagan esque.

What are his economic policies ? Taxing those over $250k more, which changed to $175, to $150, and is now $125. Anything that satisfies the audience being spoken to.

None of them have any "solid" economic policies. Economics isn`t based on a pro-active hands on approach to managing finances, it`s more reaction to what happens within the market. In 2009 we have absolutely no idea what`s about to happen, and yet we think some1 with a few months of experience is going to be the champion over who ?

What is for sure is that there won`t be "tough choices" but very unpopular required choices - and who-ever is elected will propose them and be slated for what ever the house decides to pass. It`s 4 years of some1 b4 another irrational choice is made.

What worries me is Russia`s imminant grab for the old days of the soviet union. They want it, and the coming years will be about what we`re going to do about it.

American Election

what does everyone think?

i personally think McCain should get back to his chips :p

the american public cant seriously take him as a president can they?!

obama seems more...down to earth

admitadly, its probably his campaign manager/team that have made him look like that, but still, he seems the one with sense

and when we're talking about the biggest country in the world, with power over all others, someone with sense controling it, would be preforable to the alternative

i mean, i am british, english, patriotic...

maybe thats why i dont like guns..

i personally think, that other countries should fall into line of our example, why should they have guns, i'm not just saying it as a, we dont have guns so why should everyone else, i just dont think that anyone should be trusted with guns

maybe it wouldnt stop murder, you can kill someone without a gun

but personally.....i think it would be more difficult

anyway...back ontopic

what do you think? :)

I think that the US elections is one of the most drawn out and boring events in the world calendar. It's all we have heard about for months now. That's coming from someone in the UK, so god knows how the yanks feel!

Regards the candidates, if I had the choice I would go for Obama, because he would represent real changes to American policies. That's what the US needs right now. It doesn't mean I would trust Obama though, or any other politician for that matter, because they would all kiss a baby in one breath and steal their milk in another.

I think the US government needs to stop interfering in other nation's affairs and concentrate in getting their own affairs in order. They may be a superpower, but with that power comes responsibilty. This is something they need to recognise, and they need to stop making half hearted, knee jerk reactions to events.

I hope that the new government, regardless of who is in the driving seat, can make some real differences, but maybe it will be a case of 'same old, same old'?

Think it`ll be a win for the democrats, with a democrat majority in the house, which is worrying, in the sense of a debating house and a `yes man` in the whitehouse. One of the thoughts for me as to why Obama/Biden are the candidates.

Obama with a republican majority in the house wouldn`t be bad. But that`s not likely to happen.

McCain with a democrat majority would be a better position for me. Which is pretty much what Bush had, i.e. the president doesn`t get to do too much unless the house agrees with it. e.g. everything he get`s the blame for.

The personalities of the people are quite irrelevant, but are to the fore-front including the media`s choice of focus, which ultimately will decide the day.

Quite a strange bunch to chose from.

We could just hire Jigsaw from Saw and have him give them some pain, who ever leaves the room alive will be the new president. Will they work together or would they kill each other?

But seriously, I think it's a big mistake voting for any of them you know whoever you vote for the country is going to be the same no matter what. You know they say everything if you vote for me, I'll do this and I'll do that but nothing gets done EVER.

The reason most people will not vote for Obama is because he is black, they think the next genocide is coming to white people :wavey:.

Sexy hey :D.

hehe the ITN news in the UK is just as bad, we dont know anything about either of the candidates, cept Obama's reports are glossy and McCain's are laughable.

Trevor McDonut is quite amusing, for some reason he's setup outside the Whitehouse. If I hadn't been watching Liverpool play I might have missed this.

They are on now. "McCain turned up to vote, however LATE!" - eh ? U have a small window to vote in or something ?

Turning over from ITN, they're pretty awful. I can see only from a few minutes of the reporting that they're going for the Trevor+Obama=black angle, and there's an African report coming up later with special relevance to Obama ?!?

Sideshow.

The problem with these guys and voting is that they are only spewing what you want to hear. Your not getting the real them and you wont see the real them until one of them is in office. Honestly, neither of them are worthy of being a good president.

Alright, all I hear is people saying "none of them are qualified" etc

What makes them qualified? Let's get some facts here instead of cynical statements.
