Right so whats the problem exactly. Freezing.... WHEN?

Ive never had any problems. Is this a new build, did the hard drive have windows on it from a previous install, come on fella if you cant give us the info then we cant help you.

Its massively frustrating having to ask a million quetions when trying to help you, you should give us everything we need to know straight away.

/sighcakes/

Hi Tom yes this is a new build every think is new from scan and aria it is a fresh windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit install i have updated to the latest bios, sata, usb it only seams to freeze when i transfer a large amount of files e.g films photos etc from internal HDD to external HDD  it freeze a few mins in to the file transfer this is my third rig i have done but i have never had this before lol i have had a debug code of 80 and it shows AA at the moment. Once it is running ok i want to have a got at doing my first water cooled rig and will be using special tech for all my bits i will be following your water cooling guide thanks for all of your help

So the fault is probably the external drive then..... Have you tried it on another PC?

See how were we meant to know that from your original post.......?

Yes I do see what you mean it much be frustrating when people do that all I can say is sorry tom thanks for the pointers I will try the HDD on my new MSI GT780 dxr the external
HDD is usb 3.0 it's not that old it's about 7 months old I will try another external HDD to see if it does the same thing thanks agene.

i had this issue on an older rig and fixed it by breaking the transfer into smaller chunks as everytime i tried to copy everything in one move the comp freaked out and frozr or bsoded on me

I have tried a different external HDD and still dose it tried to do it in smaller chunks but still freezing and it froze when i was on the internet just posting on hear ??

at a guess if you've eliminated the hdd, i would look to temperatures, if not its a possibly faulty mobo or cpu realistically
also try resetting bios to default a couple of times see if that does anything for stability

Thanks for the help i think i have sorted it i plugged the sata cable from the internal 1TB HDD in to the 3 Gbps plug it was in the 6gbps plug on the mother broad and when moving it to the 3 Gbps the files it did not freeze i left it over night copying in the morning it was still ok
