Hey guys,

I'm planning to be getting an i5 3570k in a MSI G45 Mobo (Its a Z77 mobo). I was wondering what is the highest speed i can get in this motherboard and what speeds people would recommend.

Thanks,

Kev

Any speed over 1600MHz is pointless tbh, you see no performance gains just much higher prices. Stick with 1600MHz @ 1.5v and it will be cheap and fast too

yep 1600 mhz is good enough and a decent price at the moment. just got 8gb (2x4gb) corsair vengence 1600 mhz for £37 inc delivery

Just thought i might add my uses for my computer to see if you guys change your mind or not. I do video editing and encoding, recording of games, and obviously playing games. Do you guys reckon i should still go for the 1600mhz or go for faster?

Dont forget when the mhz increases, the RAM timings decrease a lot. You can get most 1600mhz sticks to run at 2133mhz if you sacrifice timings. When I tried that, it gave me no performance gains in anything I actually used - only difference was in benchmarks, where RAM went up from 7.8 to 7.9 in WEI :L

1600MHz is completely fine. For that sort of usage a set of 16GB ram at 1600MHz is MUCH more ideal than, say, 8GB's at 2133MHz for example.

16GB's, 1600MHz @ 1.5V will be perfect

Agree with this,
i currently use 16gb of Corsair Vengence and 1600mhz (but i have tightened the timings) and i also video games but render as well and it performs well.
