RAM cost set to go higher

Bit-Tech have caught wind of news that Taiwanese manufactorers are slacking off production of DDR and DDR2 to get the market price of the chips higher.

The costs have gone incredibly low recently and they are decreasing production to raise the price as its fallen too low for them to be able to do business.

This will be a bit of a shame for DDR2 - as lower costs may have sparked off market adoption of these second gen DDR chips.

Read about it in The Taipai Times and of course on Bit-Tech

Any ideas of when the price may go up, as I have just priced the ballistix pc4000 you recommended on overclockers £200 for 2 gb which takes a fair bit of my budget up, was holding out for a while to see if it goes down but guess I might have to strike soon.

Well I suppose if i get my 25 posts soon i will save over a tenner a month and it can all go towards new build payback

Now is the time to buy up some sticks of ram and get ready to make a nice profit on ebay when the prices go up :D

Just bought 2 sticks of Ballistix PC4000 1gb in the kit form total £202. I was planning to get this for my upgrade as recommended by Fragtek and Kempez and it is now stage 1 of the process, so I am now committed.

Next stage is the DFI Lan party SLI-DR, and an opteron processor to go with it.

In the meantime memory will go in my current system.

Last thing I need is a price crash though.

Cheers guys
