Ram advice

my rigs been running alittle heavy on the ram side a good 4GB heavy an i'm thinking of adding 2 more stick of ram. i was thinking of getting 2 sets of this ram* so i emailed msuhkin to ask if they knew of any problems with it running an they came back by telling me my "Maximus Extreme 4" wouldn't be able to run this ram at 16gb due to there being only 2 high speed slots on board. I'm just curious if anyone has done a 16gb set up at 2133MHZ on the ME4 with out any issues or with some problems?

basically their telling you there are only 2 slots that handle 2133Mhz, they are given these boards my manu's to test so they know what their talking about when ppl ask questions, and for testing comparability issues.

what programs are you using that you need more than 8Gb of memory??

its not jsut one program its a combo of promgrams....for example i will be doing some work in some adobe programs lik photoshop indesign or illisrator with itunes running in the backround. then i will take a broke and do some gaming ether skyrim or deus ex (both on steam) maybe even a differnet with itunes paused and my adobe stuff minimized. but all that not using all 8gb but its getting up there.

then I'd suggest looking at a 16Gb kit 2x8GB which you can still use at the high speed 2133 or dropping down in MHz to the 1600 and doing 4x4Gb sticks. what they mean in their statement is that you cant use high speed in the other 2 slots as they make it with only 2 slots that support high speed ram. is your rig overclocked???? if so this may affect the 2 stick 4 stick options to ya. I'm assuming it is overclocked or why else would ya be running 2133MHz memory

its well known that oc'n on 4 sticks can be tricky

ok i get what you mean and this rig isn't overclocked but that is only because i have files on it that i dont want to risk anything happening to them....but i do have a rig that is overclocked
