Someone needs to mod a proper, full size acrylic window into that case. That would look epic. Maybe a project for ColdZero...

I do quite like what Raijintek are doing, although this case is just a bigger version of the Metis, immediately making it look like a Prodigy M ripoff and I hated that case :(

If you did, all you'd see was the side of the PSU and a dirty great HDD rack.

Please use multi-quote

I wonder what the green one looks like, what type of green is it?

Follow the link in the review to the OCUK.

You ask like we have every single colour to hand lol

You are not going to make this one black, Tom? ;)

Looks good, especially the black and silver ones. And I AM looking for this kind of chassis.

It's so rare finding a chassis with a window on the right-side panel, or should I say, finding a chassis with rotated/inverted mobo placement. I agree, the position for the graphics card sucking air from top is a turn off. There should be as well for this kind of chasis: dedicated-graphics cards with rotated PCB and the fans on the other side. lol, jk.

Raijintek Styx Aluminium MATX Case Review

I've followed you for YEARS. My last build was with the CM storm trooper which is my main rig. I am looking recycle the parts from that (3570k and 660ti etc) into a mobile Mini ITX or Micro ATX gaming rig. Can TINYtom pull off something TINY? You're a genius with your builds but i dont recall much in this form. Prove me wrong, I dare you! :) Mobile gaming! Cheers and Beers!

Nice review Gary, thanks. I was considering a Rajintek for my pocket sized build (Metis IIRC) but sadly it was not big enough to house a proper sized GPU.

This seems like it could, but is MATX. IMO they'd have been better off revisiting the Metis and making a good ITX case.

Excellent review Gary, I must say I do quite like the sleek styling of the Styx, one thing that struck me as off was the black rear IO panel... should maybe have continued the colour right around the back. Still it's a tasty little classy aluminium Lanner.

I do like the look of it, don't need a case at the moment but Raijintek are definitely an up and coming brand.

Nice review!

Please help, I have the silver version of this case and the backplate of my MSI 390x will touch my 160mm PSU. Will this cause a short or should i use a heat shield tape between them? it's a tight squeeze between the two components.

Thanks for any help.

It should not create any problems with the case of the PSU, however I'd still put something in between to battle heat transfer between the two components and rattling noises as both have at least one fan on them.

Thanks for the reply, Feronix!
After evaluating and tighting things down, the GPU is slightly angled. I think a 280mm GPU and 160mm PSU should not have a problem if the GPU doesn't have a back plate. Else, it's easier to get a 150mm or shorter PSU. Cooler Master just announced a v750 fully modular PSU couple months ago. Ill return this corsair AX760 and wait for v750. Another thing is the PSU extension cable, it's quite flimsy(thin) cable. Doesn't listed as how many AWG it is. Not sure how that will be with higher wattage PSU. Been looking for a replacement of that, but it appears to be a custom made cable too.
Wanted to get this system up before Battlefront, guess I will have to gut out this current rig and put in the new stuff in the mean time.

styx + noctua d15 - how to fan?

hello,

that's a really nice case and nice review of the features.

I have couple of questions...

1) will the HDD on the plate cut from the maximum height of the cpu cooler?
(e.g. if mounting the 2 HDD, will I still be able to use a 180mm tall cooler?

2) what is best configuration for fans?
this is my build:
- x99-m ws
- 5820k
- noctua d15 (162mm tall)
- corsair rm850i (180mm length)
- corsair lpx or gskill (32GB - all 4 slots used)
- evga gtx 550 ti (210mm length) - assuming will first pcie slot, closest to cpu
- all fan holes fitted (most probably will take some 120 noctua redux, or 2 redux + 1 noctua 120SP)

I was thinking of:
- 2 top fans - noctua redux - intake (maybe in low voltage setup...)
- the equipped fan - intake
- noctua redux 120/noctua 120SP - exhaust
- PSU fan - exhaust

thanks,
alex
