tbh i think the 2 HD's have to be the same. Ive got 2 WD 250GB's in Raid 0 but their both the exact same HD.

Some raid controllers want exactly the same models or they won`t allow raid-0.

Some raid controllers just want same size to do raid-0.

Some will only allow JBOD if there`s any differences in the drives.

Some only allow raid over 2 paired SATA sockets.

Some raid controllers will take 2 drives of any kind and allow u to setup whatever the heck u choose.

Bare in mind tho, whichever drives u choose that are unmatched size wize, the raid will be 2x the lowest size. So if u`r raptor is 74g and the barracuda 200g, u`ll end up with a 2x74g raid.

you can create a software LVM group - no size equality reqd

in windows

Control Panel >> Administrative tools >> Computer Management >> Disk Management

right click ur disks >> Convert to Dynamic Disk then

Rclick the partition u wish to extend and select extend (u may need to have the nu disk as a non partitioned dynamic disk)

this is JBOD raid it offers no performance improvements just stitches up the space to look like 1 big drive thats will only be visible in win2K or better ... i u want linux instructions ill post em

I did my raid simply by following the motherboard manual (i was after a clean setup and I used my old hdd as an external)

Make sure you backup in raid0 (y)
