Radeon Super Resolution Tested - Is this AMD's new Killer Feature?

Just emphasises that Warhammer would really benefit from some sort of upscaler.

Given it’s intel sponsored, I’m hoping it’ll get XeSS somewhere down the line.

I ran a few benches on stuff it's not bad 20-35% uplift generally.

1080>1440 6800XT R1700 all games max settings and DXR

Assassins creed valhalla off 92 on 116avg
Metro Exodus Enhanced off 46 on 62avg
Watch Dogs Legion off 44 on 53avg
Shadow of the Tomb Raider off 62 on 79avg

I also tested Red Dead Online and Crysis Remaster but wasn't able to log the fps but i couldn't see any difference myself in all of them thou the odd shimmering like FSR but overall if the game doesn't have FSR then it seems with these few worth using.

My Ryzen 1700 is the main culprit for my generally lower fps overall, but it's still a difference :D

One game that now runs far far better is Control butter smooth no little lags anymore for me, so i can see myself using this a lot if the game doesn't have FSR built in.

Elden Ring has zero hicups doesn't look any different but plays nice and smoothly so this RSR stuff is really rather good :)

Seems to me, that better results and much more savings can be had by buying 1440p monitors and just render natively to that.

Until the time, when mainstream cards can do 4K without issues.

Total War Warhammer III really does need a good upscaler. That said, the game needs better performance on the campaign map in general, both on the CPU and GPU side. At 1080p I can't get a steady 60+ FPS on the campaign map with an Ryzen 9 3950X.

I think Warhammer could benefit from another major performance optimization pass just in general :p

Yeah, especially on the CPU side on the campaign map. This game makes me want a faster CPU.

I tried 1080p => 1440p with a 6700xt in warhammer 3. Wasn’t as good as native but it was definitely acceptable.

Good to know.

1440p is the sweet spot resolution when it comes to performance. 4K usually requires a big jump, but good upscalers can deliver great faux-K results.
