R9 290X Black Screen/Hard reset Issues?

I've read a tonne of posts about these issues (also affecting 290 cards) I'd like to query anyone here if they have this issue too and if anyone knows of progress on fixing it and/or whether AMD are taking steps to do so...

The issue is apparently due to the new memory layout/memory chips.

Also, I just had the idea of considering the ASUS DCU II version of the 290X as it is a custom PCB design (and EK are making a waterblock) that this could be a work around?...

Reason I ask is because I'm looking at getting a 290X for a watercooling build very soon and I don't want to be disappointed by any of the components :(

Only time I had anything like this was after a bad overclock, it was like CCC had stored the last overclock and as windows booted reapplied it. I only had that with the original 290X though, I have had no issues with the other two Ive done

Hmm, pleasure to speak to you tinytom ^^

I feel like going along with the more expensive route of the Asus DCU II and the EK waterblock is a good plan then...

Nice to hear some positive news but, by the other two, I assume you mean the AMD 290 and the Asus 290X?

I am still having this problem with my R9 290 still after all recent driver updates, driving me insane DDD: All i can do is hope for AMD to fix or people to find a solution.

How often does it happen? :/

Hopefully it is fixed soon...

Depends what game i play. Dayz straight away. Both battlefields do after a long time but it all varies, sometimes it happens after a long time and some right away. I purchased a new power supply and that didn't fix anything. I believe it is the elpida memory and i hope it is easily fixed and i wont have to send it for repairs or RMA -_-

Doubt it is the memory. Drivers are being released for the cards(13.12WHQL just came out) so should try those.
