Hi guys I'm looking into getting an R9 285 for my new rig however I am getting a bit confused as I can get a VTX3D R9 285 for around £130/140ish however all the other makes are like £30/40 more expensive is they any reason why I shouldn't get the VTX3D over another brand.

P.S. On my parts list atm I have an XFX R9 285.

A bit more infor would be nice mate, current specs etc and a link to where you have found this GPU.

The price sounds a little too cheap, but the VTX card does look good. We need to be certain that it is a trustworthy retailer.

Ok, Ebuyer is trustworthy, that is an Epic price TBH

I would hardly call Ebuyer trustworthy have you ever dealt with their returns department?

back on topic its not only the clock speed of the gpu its the coolers some perform better than others look at some reviews of the 285 and compare the different brands matey :) for AMD cards you are pretty safe getting a Sapphire version if you can :)

EDIT: The R9 380 series is a rebranded version of the R9 285 FYI matey :)

Don't worry! VTX3D is a great company makes the most budget friendly cards from AMD basically they use the reference pcb design. Their cooler is plain working and performing good without looking too pretty... It's a good card!

I have dealt with Ebuyers return department on several occasions with no issues.

Oh it must be just me thats had bad experiences with them "I don't think so"" nuff said

Whenever I return an item i am always sure to state to them my statutory rights, sale of goods act etc.

that way they know from the start that I will be a thorn in their side until they uphold their side of the bargain, legally speaking.

Even convinced them to accept my 290X after their "3 month warranty" for open box items expired, simply because I said that legally speaking that warranty is nonsense.

I do understand where you are coming from but a reputable supplier would know this and not have to be reminded of how they behave with returns Ebuyer were under serious scrutiny by the watchdog of their Xmas picture please correct me if I am wrong

not all models are 4GB, but a lot of the models have higher clock speeds, which is also a nice bonus.

True true but I found a Powercolor R9 380 with 4GB for £169 cheaper than the XFX R9 285 2GB i previously had on my list

I'd change the Motherboard to this. This will make overclocking an option if you want to, but will require you to go for a ATX case

http://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-7917-0...id=1436111154&sr=8-5&keywords=x88+motherboard

I'd also change the PSU to this. Corsair > XFX

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-VS5...=UTF8&qid=1436111237&sr=8-1&keywords=550w+psu

Both will save you some money and are IMHO better brands or speced

I'd also change the PSU to this. Corsair > XFX
That XFX psu is a seasonic rebadge whereas that corsair PSU appears to be junk.

Stick with the XFX. bare in mind that if it does break they aren't as good with after sales support.
