quick question

It depends on what you are going to do, games, I would say not a chance unless you like really it jerky if not crawling, desktop and maybe videos, it should handle at a push.

Tom did a video a few months back where he did 4k test on a machine with 2 or 3 780 Ti's if memory serves me correctly (which it probably doesn't), and even on those (which was the top dog card at the time) it wasn't what you could call brilliant performance in gaming.

Thanks of the info, so if I really want 4k I need 980s sli is the bottom line
Bottom line I'd say SLI 980s but ideally you'd want something like 8gb 290xs in crossfire or Titan Blacks in SLI seeing how most new games are unreasonable with Videoram.

I still think we aren't at a level to be able to enjoy 4k comfortably yet that is accessible to the average enthusiast.

I see some having 980 in Tri SLI in order to get a reasonable 60fps and that involved toning down details. The thing i see though it that if I were forking out that sum of money for 3 cards, Id prefer to see 2k at 144hz than 4k at <60hz

Unless you get the 4GB model I wouldn't.

At 1080p max settings games like BF3 & 4, Crysis 2 & 3, Skyrim, and other huge titles EASILY use 2GB. At 4k you will need at least 4GB and even then with these titles that probably still wouldn't be enough. To run 4k at its best you will need at least 6GB of VRAM.
